Reading the CBSE syllabus like an examiner

The official CBSE curriculum document for each class lists units, marks per unit, prescribed practicals or internal assessment, and deleted/rationalised content for the session. The unit-wise marks table is the most useful page in it: it tells you where your study time converts into marks.

CBSE syllabi follow NCERT textbooks for most subjects, so the chapter lists you see on each subject page here map to NCERT chapters. Where CBSE prescribes levels (such as basic versus standard Mathematics), the syllabus is shared — the papers differ in difficulty, not scope.

Check the session, not just the subject: CBSE re-issues the curriculum every session and rationalised topics have moved in and out in recent years. Before trusting any syllabus summary — including ours — confirm against the current session's curriculum PDF on cbseacademic.nic.in.
