CBSE Class 10 Twice-a-Year Exam 2026: What Students and Parents Need to Know

From 2026, CBSE introduced the twice-a-year board exam for Class 10 under NEP 2020. Phase 1, held in February–March 2026, was mandatory for all regular Class 10 students. Phase 2, held in May–June 2026, was an optional improvement attempt.

The best-of-two rule means CBSE automatically uses the higher subject score between Phase 1 and Phase 2 for each student's final certificate. Students who are satisfied with Phase 1 do not need to appear for Phase 2 — the Phase 1 result is a complete and valid Class 10 certificate.

Confirm the exact registration process, eligible subjects, and fee for Phase 2 on the official CBSE portal before acting. This policy is new and details may evolve each cycle.
