CBSE Board Exam Day: Admit Card, What to Carry & Exam-Hall Rules
A calm, well-prepared exam day protects all the marks you have worked for. Many avoidable problems — a forgotten admit card, reaching late, or carrying a banned item — happen simply because students did not plan the morning of the exam.
Use this checklist the night before and the morning of every CBSE board paper so the only thing you have to think about in the hall is the question paper.
Before you leave home
- Carry your admit card and school ID — You will not be allowed to sit the exam without your valid admit card. Keep it with your school identity card and check both the night before.
- Pack transparent, allowed stationery — Carry blue/black ball pens (and spares), a pencil, eraser, sharpener, and your geometry box in a transparent pouch. Use a transparent water bottle.
- Reach the centre well before reporting time — Plan to arrive before the reporting time printed on your admit card. Rushing in late spikes anxiety and, past the cut-off, you may not be allowed in.
- Leave banned items at home — Do not carry a mobile phone, smartwatch, Bluetooth device, or any written/printed material into the hall. Carrying prohibited items can be treated as unfair means.

In the exam hall
- Fill the answer-sheet details correctly — Write your roll number and all required details exactly as on your admit card. A mistake here can delay or complicate your result.
- Use the reading time to plan — Read the whole paper in the allotted reading time and decide the order to attempt. Starting with a question you know well builds momentum.
- Follow every invigilator instruction — Listen to and follow the invigilator. If you need extra sheets or have a genuine query, raise your hand rather than turning around or talking.
- Manage time by marks — Allocate time in proportion to the marks, and keep a few minutes at the end to check roll number, attempted questions, and obvious slips.
